What is DEX routing

DEX routing is a smart way to find the best path to exchange cryptocurrencies.

When you make a swap on DeDust, it automatically involves one or several intermediary liquidity pools and assets, to give you the best price and the highest amount of token you want to buy, as a result of the swap. This is possible due to a difference in exchange rates and liquidity volumes at certain moments of time for different assets, pools, and even exchanges.

In March, 2025 new Router v2 is launched, allowing DeDust users to flexibly set their swap routes.

  1. To activate DeDust Router v2 go to settings, using a gear button on the Swap page.

  2. Switch Router v2 (Beta) ON and press 'Save', leaving the rest of its options set to defaults.

If you compare the same swap with Router v2 activated and not, you'll see the difference in exchange routes and in swap results.

  1. Press on a route to see its details and all the intermediate assets involved. And the 'Economy' represents the savings level that flexible routing provides compared to single route exchange.

  1. Proceed with the swap to see the real results. Confirm the swap on DeDust. You can notice that maximum Network fee will increase the more complex your route will be.

  2. Sign the transaction in your wallet app. There you already can see the estimated TON amount of network fees to be returned back to your wallet after the swap as an excess.

  3. Go to wallet app to see transaction execution status and the details in blockchain explorer.

Thus for the same amount of TON spent you receive >1% more tokens you're willing to buy, due to efficient routing. To get even more efficiency, try all the available options for Router v2 in settings:

  • Set max number of separate routes in one swap

  • Set max number of steps (often called also 'hops') within each route

  • Avoid low liquidity pools

  • Avoid highly-volatile pools

  • Set the minimal economy

  • Choose third-party protocols' liquidity to be involved

If you are confused with changes in all settings you've made, use 'Reset' button to return all swap settings to their defaults.

After the transaction () is complete you see the total TON amount consumed as 'gas'. For the swap with 4 routes and 7 steps it is only ≈0.14 TON (or ≈ 23% of max 0.6 TON).
