# Wallets

How to start using DeDust?

DeDust is a decentralized exchange: you trade from your own wallet, and your funds never pass through us. To use it you need a **self-custodial** TON wallet — one where the keys belong to you, not to a company.

Accounts on centralized exchanges won't work here. What you need is a wallet app where you're given a **seed phrase** — 12 or 24 words that are the only way to restore access.

### Choosing a wallet

| | Where it runs |
| ------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| [**My Wallet**](https://mywallet.io/) (ex. MyTonWallet) | app, desktop, browser extension |
| [**Tonkeeper**](https://tonkeeper.com/) | app, desktop, browser extension |
| [**Gram Wallet**](https://wallet.ton.org/) | web wallet |

Any of them works with DeDust.

> **Keep some GRAM in your wallet.** Every transaction on TON costs a small [network fee](/en/protocol/fees.md#network-fees), paid in GRAM — even when you're swapping other tokens. Without a GRAM balance nothing will go through.

### Connecting to DeDust

1. Open [dedust.io](https://dedust.io) and press **Connect wallet**.
2. Pick your wallet from the list.
3. Confirm the connection in the wallet app.

Connecting only lets DeDust see your address and propose transactions. **Every transfer still has to be signed by you** — the site can't move your funds on its own.

To disconnect, press your address in the top-right corner and choose **Disconnect**.

### Keep your wallet safe

> ⚠️ **Your seed phrase is your money.**
>
> * Write it down offline. If you lose it, nobody can recover your funds — not the wallet developers, not DeDust.
> * Never enter it anywhere except your own wallet app during recovery. No site, bot or support agent will ever need it.
> * Read every transaction before signing.
