# Staking

On May 2nd, 2024, we released the staking of our native token. The key feature of this staking is the source of funds — they are not taken from the treasury or issued: we convert swap fees into $DUST and distribute it among stakers.

Thanks to this innovation, $DUST has obtained the long-awaited utility, and a deep connection between the ecosystem, the protocol, and the token has been established:

\- New users come to the ecosystem and trade tokens;\
\- The more new users come, the more trading volume they generate;\
\- This volume then transfers into swap fees, which fuels $DUST staking;\
\- This way, the token grows with the popularity of the whole ecosystem.

:warning: *The rewards distribution is delayed now. Our team works hard to make it regular and appreciates your patience during this period*
